Welcome to Dorset Trade Skills

Our opening hours are 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday – Thursday and 8.30am – 3.00pm Friday.

We are a training centre based in Weymouth, Dorset, delivering top quality vocational courses, employability courses and Functional Skills. Our vocational courses include Bricklaying, Plastering, Carpentry and Tiling. These  courses provide the opportunity to develop skills and gain knowledge in the construction industry. Clients can potentially qualify up to Level 2 – the basis for recognised proficiency and self-employment in the building industry. A Level 1 certificate enhances your CV and opens the door to immediate employment opportunities. Our courses are flexible and designed to fit round clients’ needs. This enables the development of particular skills for DIY projects or to further a career move. Get your foot on the ladder and take your first steps in your new career, or move up the ladder for higher earning potential and greater opportunities.

Our Employability Skills courses will enable clients to gain qualifications in Health and Safety up to level 2. All teaching staff are qualified and all qualifications are accredited by national awarding bodies.  All examination-based courses have a two-week turnaround certification.  A full list of the qualifications available in employability can be seen under the Functional Skills and Employability tab. The experience and care provided by our trained instructors and staff, who are all highly skilled and qualified, will guide you through our courses. Please feel free to contact us for further information.

To support local job seekers, employers and the local Rough Sleeping community we have successfully applied for ESFA funding and are now offering free training courses to anyone in the local area who is in receipt of Universal Credit. We work in partnership with Weymouth Job Centre and also with the “Bus Shelter” Charity.  So far we have delivered two CSCS courses in Weymouth Jobcentre and as of today 11/7/22 we have assisted four local people return to full time employment.

We have courses running on the week commencing 24th January 2022. Call to book.
