All the staff bring high levels of expertise and experience in diverse occupations, including education, social welfare, community leadership, care work, civil service, mentoring and of course the building profession.
David and Mandy Hunter set up Dorset Trade Skills in 2014 to optimise David’s skills as both craftsman and teacher. David is a fully qualified bricklayer with over 20 years site experience and over 5 years teaching experience at HMP YOI Portland. He possesses a Diploma in teaching, a certificate in Diversity Training and holds an Assessors qualification.
Mandy has also worked at Portland YOI as an instructor, teaching horticulture and cooking and lecturing inductions.
We offer services to local school, authorities and also to the private sector.
A lot of our courses are mobile and we support ex-offenders by delivering courses all across the South West.
We have been running various courses for the past 9 years, here at Dorset Trade Skills. From our previous experiences, and that of our staff, we are able to establish that students want courses that are inclusive in their nature and where they could gain prompt certification and qualifications on completion.
Dorset Trade Skills put the students first.
Mandy and David are the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.
